June 2nd - Water Monitoring Day!

So we did it!  We finally managed to get out for my first water monitoring excursion!  I am continuing the water monitoring for Friends of Blackwater because of acid mine drainage (AMD), and if you follow this link, http://www.saveblackwater.org/cleanwater_amdcleanup.html , there is a great write up of what AMD is, how it happens and why we should care (also while on the site, you should check out the other projects that Friends of Blackwater work on). 

It was great to get out there and see all the points and get to use to equipment -- and the weather turned out GREAT! 

 our highly scientific piece of equipment...a pole with a bottle on the end to reach the normally unreachable...
