June 3rd - Snare Moving Day

Well, due to the infamous pesky peromyscus of the Elakala Trail, we finally had to remove the snares from that site to a new location -- the Shay Trace Trail.  I can't wait to get out there and see what kind of results we get (I even put a camera out on this one -- we now have 3 cameras up and running at 3 different sites!)  Fingers crossed we find Ginny (what we call the West Virginia northern flying squirrel).

Today Judy and I also went to the Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge to see where the Climate Change Conference we will be hosting is.  We were just trying to map things out and get a feel for the space.  I'm really looking forward to this conference (it's this weekend) since global climate change (GCC) really interests me.  Anyone who reads this blog should check out the website for the conference: www.wvalleghenyclimate.org -- there are going to be top scientists and climatologists presenting their research and knowledge on GCC -- how COOL!

Funky tree!  Judy thought we should camo the boxes so they look natural...well, as natural as a black box on a tree can get
 the camera
a sweet vernal pool we found!
